ONLINE MEETING HAS HELD TO PRESENT MONGOLIA’S SUSTAINABLE CASHMERE DEVELOPMENT AND VALUE-ADDED CHAIN IMPROVEMENT STUDY REPORT.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has organized an online event to present a research report on “Sustainable Cashmere Development in Mongolia and Improving Its Value-Added Chain.”
The event was attended by Mr. Klecheski, the US Ambassador to Mongolia, Mr. Lawrence Hardy, the Country Director for Mongolia from the USAID Philippines and the Pacific, and regional officials of the USAID, representatives of the US Trade Representative (USTR), and Mr. T.Jambaltseren, the State secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, State Secretary, M.Dondogdorj, Director of the MOFA, B.Ganzorig, Director of the Department of Food and Agriculture, G.Ulziisaikhan, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, D.Altantsetseg, Executive Director of the Mongolian Wool and Cashmere Association and Representatives of the industry were organized with a total of more than 100 people.
The participants commented on the study should include policy measures to fully involve value-added chain stakeholders, support the registration of geographically designated products in the United States, develop sustainable cashmere standards, and provide access to the U.S. market with product origin and quality assurance.
D.Altantsetseg, CEO of MWCA, said that one of the largest target markets for Mongolian cashmere is the United States. Therefore, it is expected that this study will make a real contribution to the promotion of customers entering the market and finding the optimal sales channel. In the future, support will be provided for the registration of the Mongolian Noble Fibre certification in the US market, the introduction of sustainable textile production standards, and the development of products with geographical indications in the market.
