DISCUSSED ABOUT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE TEXTILE PRODUCTION AND ECOLAB PROJECT
On 1st February 2023, the meeting hosted by the project evaluation and monitoring working group with the companies who are participated in the project regarding end of the sustainable textile production project implementation.
In the meeting attended the administrations and related employees of Gobi, Cashmere Holding, Khanbogd Cashmere, Snow Fields, Baylag Ulzii, Nans Cashmere, Goyol Cashmere, Munkhbumuud, Leader Cashmere, Gurvan Sor, Gobi-Erdene Cashmere, Uujin Cashmere, Sunshiroh and Ikh Shanyu.
During the 4 years of the project implementation in cooperation with professional association of the industry, the rules of voluntary operation of sustainable production were developed and besides the national standard “MNS 6926:2021” has been approved, adopted the practice of introducing environmentally friendly, steam, water and electricity efficient, socially responsible, sustainable and ethical production into operations. Also, the producers emphasized that they had the advantage of participating in the international exhibition under the name of the Mongolian Wool Cashmere Association, uniting the industry through a professional associatio therefore created a roadmap for sustainable production.
Although many international projects and programs are being implemented in the cashmere industry and mentioned the many misleading certificates and the issue of paper production, their coordination is poor. If the next stage of the project is implemented, proposals such as not losing the basic principle of sustainability, improving the sustainability mechanism of the value chain, improving the availability of green financing, cooperating with the government to support the human resource problem in sustainable production, and participating in the international market in the production of quality guaranteed products, not by individual companies, but by associations.
