In the light of the announcement of 2024 as the “Year of Supporting Regional Development” by the Resolution No. 481 of the Government of Mongolia, the “Mongolia Economic Forum” will be organized on February 1 and 2 at the initiative of the Prime Minister of Mongolia Mr. Oyun-Erdene.L. In this context, the preliminary discussion of the Eastern Region of the “Regional Development Conference-2024” was held on January 24 at the Academy of Management building.

In the Eastern region preliminary discussion, participated relevant government organizations of provinces and capitals, managers of locally owned enterprises, political parties, civil society and sectoral associations. Mongolia was divided into four regions when developing regional development policy in 2001, but this time it is divided into six regions: Gobi, Khangai, East, West, Central, and North. In other words, the development zoning of Mongolia has been coordinated with the electoral region of the Parliament. During the preliminary discussion of the Eastern Region, the Ministry of Economy and Development made a presentation on the concept of regional development, mapping and development, and the possibility of regional cooperation and transit railway connecting the two neighboring countries, furtherly discussions were held about development of historical tourism, expansion of ports as logistics centers, improvement of infrastructure, development of agriculture and intensive animal husbandry.
