THE LAUNCH EVENT FOR THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF CAMELIDS WAS ORGANIZED
On January 26, 2024, the launching event for the international year of camelids was organized jointly by MOFALI (Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry), Ministry of Foreign affairs and United Nation’s agency Food and Agriculture Organization.
The event inaugurated by opening speech of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Battsetseg.B, and the State Secretary of the MOFALI, Mr. Jambaltseren.T, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Mongolia, Mrs. Axelle Nicaise, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Representative in Mongolia, Mr. Vinod Ahuja.
At the event, participated representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MOFALI, Mongolian Wool and Cashmere Association, “Mongolian Bactrian” society, Camel Culture and Racing Association, Camel Culture NGO, international donor organizations, academic research organizations, and private sector, to sustainably develop Mongolian camel farming and production of raw materials, ensure inter-sectoral coordination, support exports, strengthen multilateral partnerships, and stimulate cooperation.
In the speech of Mrs. Altantsetseg.D, Executive Director of MWCA, highlighted in the discussion of Potential development of the Camel sector, in the future, to make a comprehensive policy for the development of camel wool end product production at the national level, to make investment, tax, legal and marketing policies correlated to it, and to increase the level of processing, cooperating with the private sector and sectoral associations in establishing model factories for processing camel wool in rural areas, especially in areas with camels, and inclusion in the government policy of supporting herders and cooperatives with investment and loan policies, who are sent to factories according to quality standards, age, gender, and sorted color.
Cashmere Holding, Khanbogd Cashmere, Mongolian Textiles, and Sunshiro companies exhibited camel wool and silk wool products, introduced to the participants and Khanbogd Cashmere LLC presented a fashion show, displayed its production of classic and classic style coats, jackets, and outerwear, which are lighweight yet warm, made of one of the most luxurious natural fibers.
